Debre Markos University works to develop Integrated Seed to increase Product and productivity

DMU:  Debre Markos University Research and Community Service in collaboration with Bahir Dar University and ISSD Project conduct a workshop to develop integrated seed production.

The Vice president for Research and Community Service of Debre Markos University Genet Degu (Ass.Prof) , says that Debre Markos University, Bahir Dar University and ISSD are working collaboratively to improve the live hood of the farmers by increasing product and productivity via using integrated seeds.

It is noted that Debre Markos University Support Laqe Markos, Debre Genet and Guay Associations wheat seed producers by giving capacity building trainings to integrated seed experts and farmers. This brings substantial change in the life of the farmers by giving a brand for their wheat seed and cultivating it to increase the income of farmers and associations.

A research report on the challenges of integrated seed production, opportunities and   market opportunities in East Gojjam zone, Amhara Region was presented. In addition, best experiences of  North Shewa, South Gondar and East Gojjam integrated seed producer Associations are presenting for discussion.
