DMU Soil Conservation Projects make Farmers’ beneficiary on Green Economy Development

DMU:-Flood, land degradation and soil erosion is the major problem of SinanWoredaChiraWonzwatershedcommunityfarmers. SinanWoredaChirawonz watershed farmers state that the increasing of land degradation of the land and the erosion of the soil cause them to lead hazardous life, it is a recent happening. The problem is critical for people and animals.

The vice president for research and community service Genet Degu (Assist Professor) claims about the substantial changes recorded in the project of soil conservation. Despite the problem is chronic Debre Markos University has changed it within two years. The desperate life of the farmers in the area is changed in collaboration with farmers to work on soil conservation activities.

As to her explanation, ChiraWonz watershed area farmers and their animals have been affected by flood. Thus, DMU has brought significant change in soil conservation through organized Watershed Development activities by planting indigenous trees on the area.

Mr. AbiyotMolla, DMU Choke watershed Research and Project Development Directorate Director, on his part states that farmers become beneficiary by rehabilitating the area through protection of the area by making free of animals grazing and plantation of trees on farmers centered development Project.

Farmers become beneficiary in using grasses for their animals as the result made by sustainable soil conservation activities by planting indigenous trees from the university plant nursery. Farmers of the community realize that DMU discharges its social responsibility well in the full consent given for the rehabilitation of the eroded and barren land.

Finally, it is noted that DMU works to improve the life of the community by designing and developing full package of agriculture development in the kebele.
