Background

Background of Health Sciences College

Attainment of optimum health is the desire of every individual. Health of the people is an Index of the level of development of a country. The achievement of a country in preventing disease and promoting health depends upon the contribution of all members of the health team.

The health care environment is evolving rapidly to respond to new knowledge and technologies related to the changing nature and complexity of disease patterns, complicated treatment regimens, public health approaches, and health care delivery systems. In an effort to improve individual patient and public health outcomes, governments, academic institutions, industry, professional organizations and community stakeholders have embraced the concept of inter-professional health education and practice.

In order to respond to a rapidly changing health care and research environment, improve patient care and public health outcomes through inter-professional education and collaborative research, and address rising costs in an era of constrained resources, the academic health professions in other jurisdictions are increasingly coming together around a unified mission, supported by a common governance and administrative structure.

Health Science College is started in 2007/08 G.C by two departments (nursing and public health department) with 91 students.  By increasing the intake capacity of the college in 2011 G.C. based on the country need opened midwifery department in first degree and second degree program in public health (extension and regular joint program).
