Midwifery Overview

Midwifery B.Sc. program is originated in response to the need of country which is community oriented, competent, gender sensitive and request of leaders in the health care system for graduate level in educational field. Focusing on the need of generic learners, the goal of the program is to provide a positive and supportive learning environment, preparing the professional midwives in the art and science of midwifery, meeting the social need for safe and competent midwives. The department was opened under Health College in 2011.  Currently the department has 25 academic and 3 administrative staffs   and working on teaching students in regular and extension program, providing different community services and participating in research activities.

Mission

 The overall mission of undergraduate Midwifery program is to have knowledgeable, efficient practitioner, good attitude and ethical midwives who will solve problems especially maternal and child health and all midwifery and reproductive health services at all levels of health care system.

To see the department being center of excellence in teaching learning, community services and research activities in 2030
