Effect of Liquid Bio-Slurry and Nitrogen Rate on Growth, Yield and Yield Components of Green Bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.)
ABSTRACT
The Experiment was conducted to assess the effects of liquid bio-slurry and N rates on green bean at Hawassa, It comprises four liquid bio-slurry (0, 20.6, 41.2 and 61.8 m3 /ha) and nitrogen levels (0, 20.5, 41and 61.5 kg N/ha), laid out in RCBD with three replications. Data’s were subjected SAS. Liquid bio-slurry and N significantly affected yield components. The NPK concentration on leaves was sufficient in nitrogen and phosphorous while deficient in potassium. Application of 61.5N gives (19.5 t/ha) fresh above biomass and (17.3 t/ha) total pod yield than control. Similarly 61.5 N and 20.6 m3/ha liquid bio-slurry scored (14.3 t/ha) marketable pod yield than control. Growth parameters were also affected by N application. Highest values of pod length (13.4cm), plant height (42.1cm) and pod diameter (7mm) were recorded by addition of 61.5N. Therefore, application of 61.5N kgha-1 can be recommended for yield component improvement of green bean in the study area.
