About

Debre Markos University School of Law has been established within the context of the broader objectives of the University. The School was officially established by the decision of the University Senate in 2007.

Even if, during its establishment, the School had only few full-time instructors, currently it has more than 25 members of academic staffs that teach law school courses.

It has been 16 years now during which the School has undergone so many developments. With this short span of time, the School has contributed a lot to the justice sector of the country in general and Debre Markos Community in particular. It has educated, educated and graduated a large number of students that come from all over the country in its regular, extension, summer and distance programs. It has trained a lot of people living in and around Debre Markos town in its diploma, degree and master extension, distance and summer programs. It has also given so many legal aid services to the community through its more than eight free legal aid centers that are located around the university as well as through the Debre Markos University F.M Radio Channel.

At this time, the School is giving education in regular, extension and distance LLB programs. In addition, because of the ever increasing demand for qualified legal professionals with high level of training, the School has already started expanding its horizon of education into master of laws programs/LLM. Currently, the School has two LLM Programs on Business and Investment law and Human Rights Law. The School is also on the process of opening additional LLM programs.
