Ethiopian Language Overview

The former Department of Amharic is changed its name to The Department of Ethiopian Language(s) and LiteratureAmharic was one of the departments under the Faculty of Education since 2010 at Debre Markos University. It was established, as one of the departments under the Faculty of Education in the year 2006 (1999 E.C.) two years later after the establishment of Debre Markos University. Now a day The Department of Ethiopian Language(s) and LiteratureAmharic is one of the departments under the college of Social Science and Humanities.

The Department of Ethiopian Language(s) and Literature-Amharic at Debre Markos University has well Qualified Instructors (human power), 5 Phd holders (4 in Applied Linguistics in Teaching Amharic, 1 in Applied Linguistics) and 7 others who joined Ph.D. program in the field of Folklore, Linguistics and Teaching Amharic who will graduate after a semester and a year. In addition the necessary materials will be available in a sufficient way to train the trainees in the programs (undergraduate and postgraduate).
