Nowadays, the need to have quality health data which could help in generating quality health information which will be used for making evidence based decision is central for any country to exist as a nation.
Based on this fact, Ethiopia as a nation has developed 2nd round health sector transformation plan and information revolution is one of the four health sector transformation agendas.
Health information revolution will not come into reality unless there is highly trained, motivated and responsible manpower in the sector. Therefore, Debremarkos University is one of the very limited universities which are working day and night for realizing the dreams of the health sector.
Since 2009 Ethiopian fiscal year, Debremarkos University has opened regular undergraduate program in health informatics enrolling 34 students.

The overall mission of health informatics program is to have knowledgeable, efficient practitioner, good attitude and ethical health informatics that will solve problems related to information generated at all levels of health care system.
