Overview

The Department of Human Nutrition of   Debre Markos University has been operational since September 2017 in first Degree. The program trains students in the area of MPH in Nutrition under department of public Health before years. Now the Department received the post graduate from public health and has both under & post graduate program in human nutrition.  It has planned to train students in Dietetics, Community Nutrition and Clinical Nutrition in MSC program in the next few years.

Human Nutrition is an exciting field of study that applies sciences such as Nutrition, Biochemistry Chemistry, Microbiology & other similar streams to discover ways to improve problem of the nutrition and quality of the world’s life.

Dietetics is mainly focuses on the study of diet and nutrition in relation to health and diseases. Dietitians work in a variety of settings, most commonly hospitals, chronic care/long‐term‐care facilities/group homes, private practice and counseling and public health.

Community nutrition entirely focuses on the nutritional problems in communities that could range from obesity to food insecurity in units from families to governments. It encompasses a broad set of activities designed to provide access to a safe, adequate, healthful diet to a population living in a particular geographic area.
