Debre Markos University delegates Paid Visit on three Foreign Universities

Debre Markos University delegates paid visit on University of Business and Economy, Computer and Science and Skills University of Poland and Hamburg Universities for 15 days with the official invitation from respective universities.

It is noted that Debre Markos University has been working activity to establish collaboration and partnership with various academic and research institutes which are found all and around the world. Thus, among others Debre Markos University has signed Memorandum of understandings (MOU) with two Polish Universities and Hamburg in Germany in the previous years with the objectives of staff and student exchanges, joint research and community service undertaking as well as material and resource sharing.

Dr. Haimanot Wasie, Debre Markos University Foreign Relation and Partnership Coordinator states that their visit was very successful for Debre Markos University as well as for twinning the partners. The partner institutes have the potential and capacity harnessed over years, he added. They are also well equipped with teaching materials, laboratories and resources supplant. Hence, in the subsequent meetings they held with chancellors, professors and fellow Administrators, they tried to exchange basic ideas specifically in the way they could translate the MOU signed before practically on the ground. Precisely, with the two polish partners and Debre Markos University delegates reach agreements to start receiving students or trainees who will satisfy the criteria required by both universities beginning from September 2017, Dr. Haimanot explained. Thereby, both universities make points to the preparation of an MOU which will articulate and address several issues; the bilateral duties and responsibilities to be expected from the host and home institutes at the time of student and staff exchange.

Debre Markos University Delegates also participate in an event went on at length at the university of computer science and skills in preparation of joint based curriculum from computer sciences and Mechatronics.  Having background information of the courses offered to each partner Universities, delegates reach consensus to change curriculums each other for further feed backs. The same assignment was also there in the area of Tourism Management. By and large Debre Markos University delegates express their belief that they got sufficient experiences and lessons from all of the three partners.

The team scheduled to visit Hamburg University in Germany as the collaboration between Hamburg and Debre Markos Universities starts since 2012 though it freezs at some point due to various reasons, Debre Markos Universities Delegates remarks. Thereby, Debre Markos University Partnership and External Relation tries to refurbish Hamburg University is believed to be one of the best strategic partner to Debre Markos University. In view of that attempts to communicate with the target people who brought the partnership inception as well as known by the contributions, made a lot to the foundation of Haddis Alemayehu Cultural institute. Furthermore, Dr. Haimanot says that he met Dr. Getie Gelaye on email and asked him about the history of the partnership dealings then Dr. Getie sent him documents more than enough. Thus, Dr. Geite send confirmation to Dr. Haimanot for two polish partner institutes after two days.

Finally, Debre Markos University Delegates accredit and thank a lot the three partner universities for their warmly welcome and support during the visit that they made. It is noted that Debre Markos University will benefit a lot from the three foreign partner universities in the years ahead.
