
DMU: Debre Markos University Gender affairs and HIV/AIDS prevention directorate renders training for female teachers and administration staffs.
The purpose of the training was to escalate the role of female teachers and administration staffs in the institution. The training intends to improve the number and quality of female leaders in the university. Hence, the training was assumed to front female leaders to perform effective tasks accordingly.
Mrs. Yewulsew Melak, the director of Gender affairs and HIV/AIDS prevention directorate, states that to maximize the numbers of females at the levels of higher, medium and lower leadership in the university providing leadership training for them is efficient on their role where they have been assigned.
Concepts of leadership, leadership skills and competencies, women and leadership were the contents that were entertained on the training. On this concepts, the participants conducted warm discussion in pairs and groups. On the discussion, the necessity of female leaders and challenges of female leadership were also raised and discussed critically. The participants acknowledged and pointed such training shall be endorsed to empower females for better leadership skill.
Finally, Mrs. Yewulsew remarked that there are ample challenges that hinder females to carry out their tasks effectively during their leadership term. However, irrespective the challenges females should refute problems and become committed, effective and industrious leaders officially.
