DMU: Debre Markos University instructors and admin staff had a discussion on the newly designed education and training roadmap in Debre Markos University main campus and Burie campus from September 20-26/2018 two rounds.

The education and training policy that has been implemented for the last two decades is updated in order to escalate the quality and equity of education in the country. Despite the fact that the achievement of the goals and objectives of the education and training policy has been recorded, there were problems with access to education, equity and relevance due to various problems.

In the discussion session, the president of Debre Markos University Dr. Tafere Melaku stated that the discussion is crucial to find out new viewpoint, recommendations and approaches for the feasibility of the roadmap. He also said the university community has to give due attention for the ideas and directions given in the document because the roadmap is directly executed by the community of the university.

The documents presented for the discussion emphasizes the importance of promoting prosperity of citizens by improving the living conditions of the people, reducing poverty and contributing to the development of the country via adhering quality education should be the vital concern.

Therefore, all the teachers and administration staffs of the university should be able to provide better inputs to the problems in a participatory manner. As a university providing fast and more comprehensive community services,link and coordinate educational activities with sustainable development directions to ensure that all community members are required to participate in the learning process.

Therefore, Ethiopia’s education, policy,opportunities and challenges, the modern education in Ethiopia,in general pre-primary education, elementary education, secondary education,adult education, TVET and higher education were issues of the discussion.  .

Hence, the participants of the discussion highly comments on assuring quality education in one or another has the national crisis. Therefore, the execution body on the education sector and the government has given emphasis on quality, equity and depoliticization of the education sector from pre-primary education to higher education.
