Debre Markos University plays a significant role for the success of the 7th National Tourism Media Forum under the theme “We’re ready to report your tour”. The Forum organized by The Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism was and held in East Gojjam Zone. .
The Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism Public relations Director Mr.Gezhagne Abate expresses his appreciation over the warmly welcoming and marvelous accommodation for members of the tourism media forum as they could travel freely in all areas of East Gojjam Tourism centers.
Debre Markos University Haddis Alemayehu Institute of Cultural Studies Director Assistant Professor Gizachew Andargie on his panel paper presentation reaffirms that though East Gojjam Zone is endowed with Natural, cultural and spiritual Tourism resources, the resources were not given due emphasis through media coverage. This makes the tourism resources neither national nor international center.
The other panel paper presenter LiqeHiruyanTegbaru Adane, Haddis Alemayehu Institute of Cultural Studies Geez Language Expert, presents a paper entitled “The tune of Achaber” in selected East Gojjam zone churches. He states that Achaber tune is song during the celebration of holidays, mourning, pleasure and chatting. The tune ‘Achaber’ has played a significant role for the tune development of Ethiopia though the tune is endangering in the zone. Thus, all stake holders should continue to preserve and rehabilitate the tune ‘Achaber’ LiqeHiruyremared.
Finally, Participants of the Media Forum appreciates Debre Markos University for the selection of tourism centers, program preparation, service delivery and overall hospitality during the forum. Participants paid visit on Debre Markos University Haddis Alemayehu Institute of Cultural Studies Center Archive Center and Wild Animals and Natural Resource Zoology Center.
