Debre Markos University signs MoU with Bright Future Initiatives to work on the marginalized society

Debre Markos University signs Memorandum of Understanding with Bright Future Initiatives, non- governmental Organization, to work together with special need in relation to the teaching learning, research and community services that the university is working aggressively to address.

Dr. Tafere Melaku, Debre Markos University President, says that the University could not be fruitful in achieving its missions with the budget allocated from The Federal Government since the teaching learning activities, research areas and community services to be addressed demand huge amount of money  unless the University  collaborates and works with parties having  similar missions and objectives.

Hence, the agreement with Bright Future Initiatives helps to strengthen and give due attention to the marginalized people in the community whom the University is supporting them through free legal aid services, empowerment trainings, capacity building activities and others, Dr. Tafere added.

The university will work with its party with its enthusiastic, energetic and young staff members to bring about a change on the lives of the disabilities by conducting demand driven researches, delivering community services based on the findings of the researches and strengthening the departments in under and post graduate studies, he remarks.

He also says that though the University had made a number of MoU agreements with various institutions, less attention was given on monitoring and controlling for the accomplishment of the objectives that the parties had agreed up on. As a result, the University is initiated to work collaboratively with the parties by inviting and clustering concerned colleges, institutions and schools of the University for meaningful and promising changes, Doctor Tafere concluded.

Mr. Endeshaw Kassa, Project Development and Partnership  Directorate Director, states that the MoU  document contains  more than 10 issues to work together in relation to the teaching learning, research and community services.

In the ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) that the University make today with Bright Future two people namely Marjolein  Meande  Baltussen, East Africa CBM Advisory and Esther Breffka, Trinity University of College, Ireland, researcher were present as part of the agreement session to work together with the university in various issues, Endeshaw added.

Participants of the agreement states that, Bright Future Initiatives and the University could work together as the University is doing enormous activities in the teaching learning, researches and community services in relation to disabilities.
