DMU:- Debre Markos University Health Science College conducts free, fair, participatory and democratic election today on 3 August 2020 in Debre Markos University Haddis Alemayehu avenue under the presence of Dr. Tafere Melaku, Debre Markos University President, Assistant Professor Genet Degu, Debre Marekos University Research and Community Service Vice President, Debre Markos University Teachers’ Association members, election observers and other concerned bodies.

Mr. Girmaw Ashebir Debre Markos university Public Relations and Communication Directorate Director, facilitating and leading the election stage says that the four candidates for the position of Health Science College Dean came for the competition through the invitation and announcement made and communicated clearly earlier as the University is committed to develop better practice in free, fair, participatory and democratic election.
The competent bodies were registered following the announcement as per the prerequisites for the position, Health Science College Dean. The election process was tried to make it free, fair participatory and democratic through the developed habit of the University Community in voting candidates for the two vice Presidents before, Girmaw underlined. Thus, Debre Markos University is aggressively working to have leaders who could bring the University and the Community ahead by assigning the right persons to the right positions, he concluded.
It is noted that the candidates present their strategic plans focusing on the activities they will do in relation to ensuring relevance and quality education, conduct problem solving researches, deliver demand driven community services, enhance good governance to create enabling and conducive environment and strengthen collaboration and partnership.
Participants asked candidates about what things they might do if they win as they have been working in other positions in the college. Participants also advised the candidates to share their strategic plans to fill the gap of one with another for the meaningful development of the college. Then, candidates give answers and explanations for the forwarded questions.
Finally, voters have given their voice to the candidates disregard less of their relationships, friendship and any individual favor to assign the one who could bring the college and the University forward.
It is noted that the committee will notify the result as soon as possible after careful count of the voters’ voice. All the candidates were Assistant Professors namely, Abeba Mengist, Girma Alem, Gebresilassie Demeke and Muluken Wubetu.
