
Debre Markos University celebrated the graduation of 124 medical professionals from its Health Sciences Campus on Saturday, November 15, 2025. A total of 62 students completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) undergraduate program, consisting of 58 males and 4 females, while an additional 62 students successfully finished their postgraduate medical studies, including 49 males and 13 females. On this 8th round medical doctors’ graduation of the campus families, faculty members, university leaders, and invited guests attended the event.
During the ceremony, Dr. Aklok Lake, Chief Executive Officer of the Debre Markos University Health Campus, delivered an opening speech highlighting the university’s commitment to producing highly skilled medical professionals who can serve Ethiopia’s growing healthcare needs.
He emphasized the importance of medical ethics, community service, and continued professional growth in the graduates’ future careers.

In addition to Dr. Aklok, a welcoming speech was delivered by Dr. Himanot Getachew Chief of the President Office, in which he congratulated the graduates and appreciated the dedication exhibited by both students and the health campus staff throughout their academic journey. He reminded graduates of their critical role in improving healthcare delivery across the country. In his speech he also underlined the dedication of the University management in supporting the effort of the Health Science Campus to producing qualified health professionals.

The ceremony that included the recognition of outstanding graduates for academic excellence concluded with joyful celebrations, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the 124 newly qualified medical professionals who are now prepared to serve communities within Ethiopia and beyond.
