A two-day workshop successfully hosted by DMU under a grand title: “Bridging Knowledge, Engaging Student and Alumni Networks on EU Higher Education and Future Prospects”. The workshop held on December 7, 2025, was supported by the EU through the OCEANS network. Focusing on voluntarism, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange, the workshop aimed to foster international cooperation and strengthen global academic networks.
Dr. Yiheyis Aregu, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Debre Markos University, who made an opening remark on the event, highlighted the transformative role of the OCEANS Network in promoting cultural exchange, professional development, and international academic collaboration. He particularly emphasized the importance of the Erasmus+ Program in expanding educational opportunities and creating job platforms for youth.

At the workshop, presentations were made on Erasmus+ Program Opportunities and on the works of OCEANS and prospects by Dr. Getnet Atinafu, Director of Research, International Relations and Partnership, and by Ato Walelign Zelalem, respectively. Additional presentations were made on issues such as Voluntarism, Innovation and Entrepreneurial Mindset for youth, and Cultural Exchange and student affairs. Following the presentations, participants held fruitful discussions that yielded constructive ideas and ways to address challenges.
In addition to scholarly discussions, a heart-warming material donation to individuals in need within Debre Markos town was made by DMU, demonstrating the University’s commitment to community service.
