Department of Real Property Valuation

 Overview of the Department

The Bachelor Degree in Real Property Valuation is the first and the only undergraduate program in the field of real property in Ethiopia. The curriculum combines academic knowledge with practical experience to provide students with the required theoretical knowledge and skills for a successful career. The curriculum addresses a range of topics including real property finance and taxation, real property development and management, risk identification and management in the real estate industry, feasibility analysis, law, property valuation, and market analysis.

So far, the department is opened at Bahir Dar University, Mekelle University, and Dire Dewa University. However, the demand studies showed that providing Real Property Valuation training only with these institutions is not sufficient to train the required number of experts for the implementation of the governmental agendas related to Real Property Valuation. There is a need for an additional institution that is engaged in training professionals in Real Property Valuation. Accordingly, the department under the Institute of Land Administration at Debre Markos University (DMU) has been launched in 2012 EC.
