ICT Overview

ICT directorate was established in 2003, with the hope of using it to respond to the current developments at DMU and ever increasing needs of the University Community towards Information Technology Products and services.

Mission

  • To effectively conceive, develop, implement, utilize, and manage appropriate information systems in order to provide integrated, coordinated and customer-focused quality ICT services to Debre Markos University in line with its vision, mission and objectives.

Vision

  • To be a centre of innovation by providing a quality ICT services for Debre Markos University and for the Community.

Objectives

  • To identify, acquire and install relevant ICT resources and implement the technology transfer University-wide.
  • To manage operations and maintenance of ICT resources.
  • To train end-users on computer literacy and offer end-user computing support.
  • To offer technical advice and consultancy ICT related activities.
  • Planning, implementation and development of ICT infrastructure and Information Systems.

Infrastructure

  • Leased line broadband Internet Infrastructure

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Accountable to the university Business and Development V.President
  • Insure that ICT provides, operates and maintains the ICT infrastructure, systems and solutions to meet the needs of the administrative, educational, and research programs of the University
  • Establish proper ICT governance through an ICT Policy for the university, planning of ICT projects, managing the portfolio of solutions, systems and infrastructure, and instituting a Service Management approach to the services and solutions that the ICT delivers to the university community
  • Insure that the ICT department understands the needs of its customers – the university and the many departments and programs that it runs, the teachers, students and administrators, and provides solutions based on this understanding
