Research and Community Services

The School is well known for its research activities. Through the support of the university as well as other governmental and non governmental institutions, the school starting from 2010 till now has tried to conduct more than thirty/30 researches. To mention some of them:

  • The Paradox of Urban Land Administration- Pro Invetment or Corruption: A Special Emphasis in Amhara Regional State;
  • In Search of Correct and Uniform Sentencing in Ethiopia: The Sentencing Manual of the Federal Suprem Court and Its Implementation in East Gojjam Woreda and High Courts;
  • Anomalies in Taxation of Micro and Small Enterprises(MSEs) in Ethiopia: The Case of Amhara Regional State;
  • An Assessment of the Impact of Usury in East Gojjam Zone;
  • Social Courts in ANRS: Investigating the Legal and Practical Challenges;
  • Access to Justice and the Role of Paralegals in East and West Gojjam Zones: A Critical Social and Economic Analysis;
  • Awareness of and Access to Legal and Policy Documents and Their Impact on Decision Making;
  • The Corporate Social Responsibility Practice of Universities in Amhara Regional State: A Case Study based on Carroll’s pyramid Model;

The School again is well known for its community services. Through its Free Legal Aid Center, and financial support from the Debre Markos University, the Human Rights Commission and other governmental and non governmental institutions, it has given free legal aid service to a large number of needy persons in and around Debre Markos town. Women, people with disability, people living with HIV/AIDS and generally those who couldn’t afford hiring their own lawyer or paying for legal advice have benefited much from the Free Legal Aid Center of the School. On top of that, the School has made a lot of legal awareness creation through the Debre Markos University F.M radio channel and there is a high commitment of the school to strengthen as well as enlarge such services.
