DMU: – Debre Markos University has conducted collaboration and partnership with Addis Ababa University to carry out activities on teaching learning, research, well-informed and demanded community service and other supplementary tasks to work mutually on October 3, 2017 in the university senate room.
Debre Markos University foreign relation and partnership coordinator Dr. Haimanot Wassie states that the collaboration has been started since 2016 and, and currently are enable to oversee the details of the tasks of the two universities cooperatively in profoundly.
According to Dr. Haimanot explanations Debre Markos University has conducted partnership with several local and foreign institutions, and thence cooperates and leads the discussions intellectually.
Debre Markos University Academic Affairs Vice President Mr. Tadesse Tenaw, officially states that Debre Markos University has been carrying out adequate and efficient activities on teaching learning, research, community service and other additional deeds incredibly in spite of its establishment recently as a 2nd generation University. Therefore, it is a great fortune to leave fertile opportunity to share experiences between Debre Markos University and the popular Addis Ababa University to work mutually in proxy manner, Mr. Tadesse added.
Thus, Debre Markos University and Addis Ababa University have begun their holistic relation to perform activities on teaching learning, research and other additional tasks institutionally since 2016. However, their potential in depth has not yet harnessed. For that matter, the two universities have ratified detailed descriptions to perform admirable activities tangible especially on the slightly began Choke watershed area.
Dr. KasahunTurie, Addis Ababa University instructor, on the other hand explains that Addis Ababa University has passed through several research activities, schooling on environmental protection and preservation and offered demanded skill- gap trainings on how to conduct researcher accordingly. Especially, tap-rooted problems in the community have been scientifically solved, Dr. Kassahun added.
Fortunately, Eastern Gojjam Zone where Debre Markos University is located is naturally endowed with the existence of the six climatic zones; (hot biodiversity area) should do problem solver research with Addis Ababa University cooperatively. Strong keen leaders have been chosen from the two universities to sustain the partnership strongly designing detailed working plans. During the MoU signing program taskforce was organized to execute the Mou Agreements. In due course of this, Dr. Mesfin Abate from Debre Markos University as a chairman, assistance professor Genet Degu from Debre Markos University and Dr. KassahunTurie from Addis Ababa University respectively are chosen as members of the partnership taskforce.
