Many duties of Project Development and Partnership Directorate

One of the strategic plans for Debre Markos University is developing number of partnership and develops mega projects. Within the partnership activity, increase the number of links established with local and international institutions in the strategic year. The main activities of the directorate are:

  • Project development with different mini activity
  • Make and find partners of the university in verity area.

In this regard the university has made memorandum of understanding with around 35 institutions abroad and in Ethiopia. Yet, only four partners (AAU, BDU, P2P, Ethiopian Agricultural Research office, Youm Economic development) are working effectively with the university as per the signed MoU. And some ongoing projects are:

  1. Implementation of land administration Debre Markos University with two universities of Austria (BOKU and TUW),
  2. Improving basic counseling skill Debre Markos Unversity with Este Gojjam zone.

To approach partners, the University has signed different MoUs with local and foreign partners to strengthen the teaching learning, research and community service activities. On the basis of these understandings, development and project are being run with Bahr Dar and Addis Ababa University respectively. The development project has benefited more community members and the research activities indicated clear gaps in crop productivity and soil fertility and management issues. Based on the findings on-farm researches in variety adaptation trial, fertilizer amount and rate trial, plant population trial and soil acidity management trial have been planned and implemented.

Collaboration and Partnership:

In the previous strategic plan it was planned to increase the number of links established with local and international institutions to fifteen by the end of the strategic years. In this regard the university has made memorandum of understanding with 35 institutions abroad and in Ethiopia. Yet, only four partners (Gambi, AAU, BDU and Human Bridge) are working effectively with the university as per the signed MoU.

To approach partners, the University signed MoUs with 23 local and 12 foreign partners to strengthen the teaching learning, research and community service activities. On the basis of these understandings, development and research project are being run with Bahr Dar and Addis Ababa University respectively. The development project has benefited more than 650 community members and the research activities indicated clear gaps in crop productivity and soil fertility and management issues. Based on the findings on-farm researches in variety adaptation trial, fertilizer amount and rate trial, plant population trial and soil acidity management trial have been planned and implemented.

Community development projects

Conducting research is relevant when it can be converted to project to address the identified problems. Accordingly, DMU community service directorate has research findings implementation guideline to upgrade relevant research in to projects.

Currently, there are 8 projects which are being implemented and there are 8 new projects already accepted to be granted.

  • Improving Quality of Justice with new procedure of standard of Admission of Expert Evidence in East Gojjam Zone Courts
  • Nursery and Orchard Establishment in Burie Campus
  • Small and micro enterprise mobilizers’ care and support project
