Choke Watershed Research and Development Project gives Training

DMU: Debre Markos University Choke Watershed research and development project directorate in collaboration with Addis Ababa University gives training to experts and model farmers recruited from Lumame and Dejen Towns.

Dr. Mesifin Abate, Debre Markos University Choke watershed research and development directorate director, says that the training is fundamentally offered for farmers under each ecological system in order to feed technologies as per of their desire upon the household survey carried out by the directorate. Thence, activities are carrying out to promote Choke watershed projects as brand of the university in doing societal driven research for ultimate fund granting and to preserve the biodiversity of the society at most.

Tegegnework G/Medihen, an instructor from the college of Agriculture and National resource, explains that using integrated crop cultivation is crucial for preserving soil’s productivity in a sustainable way for better productivity. On the occasion, Tegegnework also taught about the preparation and usage of human made organic fertilizer, which is called compost.

On the other hand, Dr. Birihanu Alemu, Debre Markos University college of Agriculture and Natural Resource Animal Science Department Head discuses Integrated Utilization of soil is significantly important to keep the fertility of soil, grow animals feeding and to keep and improve the ecological systems, and could be better recreational centers and productivity of crops.

Participants of the training on their turn acknowledge the training as it fills their skill gap to develop projects and enquire the university to provide technologies and products.

During the occasion Assistance Professor Genet Degu, the vice president for research and community service says that such sort of training is crucial to create awareness’s on the adoption and implementation of technology upon the people’s desire. The training would be continued to some other area farmers and experts to inculcate technology and ideas.
